The Mayor’s Office of Arts + Culture and the Boston Art Commission Announce “Pop Up! Dudley Connections” with Eight New Temporary Public Art Projects in Dudley Square

BOSTON - The Mayor's Office of Arts and Culture and the Boston Art Commission are proud to announce “Pop Up! Dudley Connections,” a selection of temporary public and performance art projects in Roxbury’s Dudley Square neighborhood. Images are available upon request.

“The Bruce C. Bolling Municipal Building, named after Bruce Bolling, the first African-American president of the Boston City Council, will be the next great building in Boston,” says Mayor Martin J. Walsh. “Opening late next year as a 150,000-square-foot municipal center with retail and office space, it is a critical step in the ongoing economic revitalization of Dudley Square, using the neighborhood’s past as a foundation to build its future. These pop-up public art projects from area artists are visual and dynamic ways to signal positive changes in the neighborhood.”

“Boston is one of the oldest U.S. cities, yet is well known for its climate of transformation,” says Karin Goodfellow, Director of the Boston Art Commission. “We are a city that moves between convention and innovation and Dudley Square is currently at the apex of the city’s transformation. We believe that public art is an expression of our passionate ideals, intellectual curiosity, and cultural narrative. Engaging the public in a lively and ongoing discussion on public art as an integral part of city life.”

365 Artist, 365 Days Project

The 365 Days, 365 Artists is a project launched by the Frank Juarez Gallery (Sheboygan) and the Greymatter Gallery (Milwaukee). 

"The aim of this project is to share with you daily a diverse selection of contemporary visual artists working today from across the country and perhaps the world."

Way Back on the Shelf: The Cyclorama, MFA Thesis Show, Boston, MA

Way Back on the Shelf explores the autobiographical memory of the artist through sculpture, installation, and video performance. The artist seeks to investigate the fragility and imperfection of memory as he questions grief and masculinity through family traditions and childhood.

Not Obtuse if you Think Harder, Piano Craft Guild Gallery, Boston MA

Two evenings of performance art that feature a mixture of durational and non-durational pieces.

My performance piece Oh Death, Oh Death will take place Wednesday evening at 7:30 pm.

Doors will open at 6:00 pm with refreshments and performances beginning at 6:30 pm.

The Gallery at the Piano Craft Guild (also more popularly known as the Piano Factory) is located at 793 Tremont St in Boston, MA.

New England Photography Biennial

"Every two years, the Danforth Art Museum celebrates contemporary photography through a highly selective exhibition of photographers who live or work in New England. Juried by Francine Weiss, Curator and Loupe Editor at the Photographic Resource Center, Boston, the New England Photography Biennial 2013 showcases exciting and innovative photography by both established and emerging artists."

Two of my emulsion lift pieces, Contemporary and Travel, can be seen at the museum from September 8th – November 3rd, 2013. A gallery talk by Francine Weiss, juror and the Curator and Loupe Editor for the Photographic Resource Center in Boston, will be held Wednesday, October 9th at 12:30pm. 

Copley Society: Annual Juried Student Show

I have been awarded with runner-up in the Copley Society's 24th Annual student show. My emulsion lift piece Travel can be seen on view from February 13 - April 19, 2013 in the Red Room Gallery alongside other graduate and undergraduate students from the surrounding area.
